Amanda Rhodes, LCSW
Hi there! Welcome, l am glad you are here.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is passionate about working with youth and families. I strive to work collaboratively with clients so they feel empowered in their story.
A Little About Me and My Career:
During my time at University of Houston-Graduate College of Social Work, I became trained in assisting clients from a holistic, client-centered approach. While in my professional career, I have been able to grow as a clinician within several settings including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, schools, partial hospitalization, private practice and community outpatient assisting a wide range of youth, caregivers, and adults.
I recognize the importance of understanding all areas of a client’s life including their upbringing, interpersonal relationships, current life stressors, and symptoms experienced.
What is my Therapeutic Approach and Style?
My approach is simple: getting to know the client- as an individual- building trust, and discovering what is next in their walk.
I operate from a playful, curious, and energetic stance, incorporating various tools to aid with the therapeutic process. I utilize aspects of multiple interventions including: solution-focused, motivational interviewing, behavioral, cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, and child-centered play therapy.
What are my specialties?
My specialties include: pre-teen and adolescents with concerns such as: performance and generalized anxiety, perfectionism, major depression, self-harming behaviors, suicidal thinking, grief, low self-esteem, aggression, trauma, mood swings, and risky behaviors.

I also have experience with children who struggle with hyperactivity, mood dysregulation, low frustration tolerance, behavioral issues, defiance, school conflict, and separation anxiety. I work closely with parents throughout treatment for parent skill building and enhancing client/parent relationship.
In addition, I also work with adults who are adjusting to life transitions/stressors and/or working through depression and/or anxiety symptoms.
Why I value therapy for people?
I value a strong therapeutic relationship because it can be one of the most enriching experiences in a person’s life. I am in awe of the amount of resiliency I have seen with the clients I have been able to work with and I am so grateful to be a part of their walk in life.
